But don't
private lessons cost more?
That
depends on your perception of value. The group lesson ticket is cheaper. If
your chief desires are for social riding or companionship then group
lessons are the way to go. If your lesson group is small, like 3 or 4
people you'll get a lot of attention and feedback. If it's large, like 8
or 10 you may not get the level of instruction you are looking for. Under those circumstances you may get a lot more bang for the buck with
private lessons. Regardless of the size of the group, your Telluride
group instructor will do their very best to give you as much attention
as possible. Consider that you may accomplish more in a 3 hour
private lesson and have more time to practice what you learn than you
would in 2 days of group lessons but you give up 2 days of socializing.
How can I reduce my cost of
private lessons?
At
Telluride, when you book a private lesson, you are paying for one
instructor for the hours of your lesson. However you can bring up to 6
family members or friends at no additional charge. If you split the cost
among a few people you can significantly reduce the individual cost and
ski with the people you choose at the pace and goals you desire. Think
of it as a mini group of close friends. This works well for people of
similar ability levels. Or you may want to book an all day lesson and
split it up among riders of different ability levels. Or perhaps two or
three families vacationing together would hire one instructor for all
the kids to snowboard together rather than getting split up among different
groups.
